ADULT ECMO FOR RESPIRATORY FAILURE AND SEPTIC SHOCK
KAROLINSKA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
This EuroELSO course is intended for physicians (intensivists, surgeons etc), nurses, perfusionists and other health care professionals, who either work in an ECMO program or who are in the process of starting one.
The course will be conducted by the faculty of the ECMO Center at Karolinska. It will include simulations of ecmo patients, practical training in managing the ECMO circuit with change of different components etc, computer simulations of physiology and didactic lectures. Simulations and practical training will be performed in small groups of 6 participants together with one or two instructors. The lectures will cover subjects like components of the ECMO circuit, indications for ECMO, contraindications, managing the patient on ECMO, cannulation strategy, physiology, anticoagulation, troubleshooting etc.
The number of participants is maximized to 24. Besides of the course the registration fee (20 000 SEK) will cover lunches, coffee and one dinner.
After having completed the course, the participants will have increased both their theoretical knowledge and their practical skills in managing adult patients on ECMO for respiratory failure and septic shock.
Registration is possible via www.elso.org or directly at www.delegia.com/euroelsoecmo2018.

Euroelso neonatal and pediatric ecmo course
military medical and veterinary school – rome
This EuroELSO accredited educational course will provide the candidate (anesthetists, paediatric intensivists, nurses, paediatric cardiologists, perfusionists, cardiac surgeons and general surgeons) the base knowledge relative to the critically ill neonate or child who requires extracorporeal life support and exposure to the observational & practical skills inherent in the continued operation and surveillance
of the ECMO system.
This will be achieved by a combination of interactive lectures, by renowned experts in the field of paediatric ECMO, with the use of high fidelity simulation.

Adult ECMO for respiratory failure and septic shock
Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden
The first EuroELSO course “Adult ECMO for respiratory failure and septic shock” was held in Stockholm October 5th – 8th 2015. 25 delegates from 9 different countries participated. In small groups (6 – 7 persons) every participant had one full day in the SIM lab and one full day in wet lab with hands on training. Two days were devoted for lectures, PC simulation of circulatory physiology and patient case discussions.
The faculty was mainly from the ECMO Center Karolinska. Dr Roberto Lorusso, chairman of EuroELSO, served both as a faculty member and as an observer from EuroELSO.
The present plan is to have the course repeated on an annual basis. Future courses will be announced on the ELSO and EuroELSO web sites.
