ECMO Transport course – joint conference EuroELSO/ESPNIC

international faculty from EuroELSO & ESPNIC Societies and ECMO Centre Karolinska, Stockholm, Sweden.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
• Learn about the different transport modes used in neonatal and pediatric ECLS transport and their specific challenges
• Altitude physics and aeromedicine
• Learn about working environment and risk situations during transport
• Discuss and learn to handle the logistical aspects of ECLS transport including preparation, planning, and communication
• To become familiar with dedicated transport equipment
• To troubleshoot and solve complications/adverse events during neonatal and pediatric ECLS transport in high-fidelity simulation practices
• Overview of legislation and insurance aspects of international transport

VENUE and ACCOMMODATION
The course fee of EUR 1.200/participant includes the attendance to comprehensive course programme and accommodation for two nights at Best Western Hotel Bromma Blocks.

Day 1 Wednesday 11th September starts at ~ 13:00 and ends with a course dinner at the Best Western Hotel. The first afternoon will be filled with lectures. These lectures are followed by a short walk from the course hotel to the simulation venue at Grafair, Bromma Airport for acquaintance with the simulation stations and introduction to your group.

Day 2 Thursday 12th September and Day 3 Friday 13th September finish at ~ 17:00 are whole days with simulation practices in two groups of 6 alternated with lectures for 12 participants. Simulations will be conducted by international experts and simulation staff from ECMO Centre Karolinska experienced in the three transport modes offered during course: Ground ambulance, Helicopter and Ambulance Aircraft. Educational lectures and discussions will be led by speakers representing ESPNIC, EuroELSO and ECMO Centre Karolinska.
